Camp Nou, officially known as Spotify Camp Nou, has been the iconic home of FC Barcelona since its inauguration on September 24, 1957. Located in Barcelona, Spain, it stands as Europe's largest stadium. Originally accommodating 93,053 spectators, its capacity expanded to approximately 120,000 in 1982 for the FIFA World Cup. Subsequent regulations eliminating standing areas adjusted this number to just under 99,000.
In 2022, Camp Nou embarked on a significant renovation project aimed at modernizing its facilities and increasing seating capacity to 105,000. This €1.73 billion endeavor includes the addition of a new roof, escalators, and an updated media suite. The project is slated for completion in June 2026. During this period, FC Barcelona has temporarily relocated to Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.
Throughout its storied history, Camp Nou has hosted numerous prestigious events, including two European Cup/Champions League finals in 1989 and 1999, and the football final of the 1992 Summer Olympics. Its rich legacy and monumental architecture make it a pilgrimage site for football enthusiasts worldwide.
